This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well spring has finally arrived here - at least this week and I had spring fever :) Left early today too, but just to get ready for the show tomorrow.
:')
Well, Frog took the trophy. She took off the whole day
That's true - I couldn't swing that. 'Course she had a better excuse than I did.
Another thunder storm. It's booming and the lights are flickering but it's about 10 miles north of us right now. Winds have been clocked at over 70 miles an hour.
We had a bad storm last night, tornado warnings because of wall clouds and rotation that went right over my town. Lots of damage from baseball size hail in the area but it missed me, thank goodness. I kept the horses in the barn all night, bet they were glad. I need to walk around outside and see if I have any trees down.
What a neat dog:)
Looks like a nice place.

Oh, a show:) Who all is showing?

It rained here all night, It looks like the sun might being trying to peek out of the clouds now. With the amount of rain we've gotten now this past week, things should improve. Especially in the hay fields.

It's a pretty piece of ground, and very secluded. ... and I do like the hills :~D Unfortunately her only neighbor is also at the top of the same hill, and has been known to shoot her cats for getting in the birdfeeder.
Man I could never live in a place where there were lots of tornado threats. You are far braver than I. Two things I can do without are tornados and earthquakes. We rarely get tornados up here because of all the hills, but we do get some water spouts now and again. And last summer we had a tornado touch down in the town next to me. About 10 years ago when I was in Georgia, we had a tornado take out the entire lot next to us and skip us completely. Cars were over on their roofs, trees were down... it was the scariest thing. My mom lived out in Iowa when she was a girl, and she's told me horror stories about being in a car and having to outrun tornados. *shudder*
We just got a show. The horses were closer and I was debating going out there, but it blew out. I don't know what I could hsve done at 2am though. I would have been headed to the storm and I wouldn't have put them in the barn there.
Tornados scare me too... more than hurricanes even, because you can't plan for them or build for them. I think they rip up most anything we could build for a barn.
Earthquakes are only scary if you're in the city with all that concrete and glass. They can't hurt me in the country :~D
Well, we are getting another nice soaking rain:). Making us all so lazy. Just sitting here watching it come down.
Are you riding today? I'd like to, but I'm glad it's raining too. p to the forecast the rain moves out tonight then sunny and temps in the 70's:) I'm so glad I got all that mowing done. I may try to go get some fertilizer next week and get it spread. Right now I think that's a better bet then planting seed. I wish I had gotten it down before this rain tho.
Becky
We aren't gonna get around to riding today... other errands to do and I've been mowin' the lawn...
It's clouded over here... we might get a bit of rain ourselves... But we're hopeful that we'll get it together to go tomorrow. :~]
Becky
Oh dear... what a pathetic sight? He must think he's more sheltered there...
Supposed to be a ! instead of a ? - got my punctuation crossede ;~D
