The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

You gotta wade through at least one. There are a few posters that equate nursing a baby with defecating, urinating, certain sexual acts done without a partner, etc. I read that stuff and think, "are these douchebags from planet earth?!"

Well, I/we/whole family liked it. I guess Call was our favorite, and then Gus.

The pigs are comic relief. So where did the first episode end, it's been a long time. where the kid died in the river with snakes?

...Was sortof expecting that we'd see pics of Frog's new babies on the thread today :~D

I'm bad. I layed outta work another day. Figgered it was Friday, why go back! I got babies to play with!

I did get in a good ride on Grace this afternoon. I hauled her up to the Forest and we just rode by ourselves. It was good for both of us. She did real well. I got her tangled up in some vines pretty good and she just stood and waited until I figured out which way she needed to go to get out of them, even though she could've easily dragged me off because one of them was around my waist. And she's very careful about going over logs too so I was doubly pleased. Oh, and I took her down and up those stair-steps to the creek and she did those fine too, even though she'd never seen them before. She wasn't too sure about those blocks at the bottom, but she went ahead with a little coaxing. The other good thing was that I rode her with the Mennonite saddle and it fits her fine. No dry spots at all, so that one can just be hers.

I'm riding Bob tomorrow, so that'll be even better. I don't get many two-ride weekends.

...and I can't for the life of me figure out why they included two pet pigs...

LOL!!! Those pigs are for when it gets "Lonesome"! I think I even remember a sign somewhere in the movie that said "We don't rent pigs". ;o)

Hey, I did it up right, I layed out TWO days. But I gotta work Sunday, so they'll get some of it back. I had told my boss a long time ago that come the end of April and the first of May it was Baby time and I'd be taking off. I just didn't know when. The weather turned out to be really nice too, although it's been pretty chilly the last couple of mornings. It was really cold this time last year when Ellie was born too. Blackberry Winter and all that I guess. It was crystal clear today but only got up to 70, so it was picture perfect for riding. It's supposed to be cloudy tomorrow with a chance of rain by evening and rain all day Sunday. Suits me. If I gotta be at work, I'd just as soon it be raining.

Y'all, it's 9:30 and my transformation into a pumpkin is nearly complete. I'm going to bed (while visions of horse babies dance in my head)! Seeya!

Evening all... Here's a few pics from Tiff's place this evening...

When I turned the horses out... She leaves her horses in the small pasture that's pretty much drylot all day, and turns them out on this grass just at night while it's growing and lush right now, so they don't get too much. Her grey Arab Mia, Kat in the middle, and the young mare I can't remember the name of on the right..

This is looking back on her other field, that's all steep hill. The house and barn are at the top... she carved a flat spot at the bottom into kindof an arena.

And this is her 6 month old Great Pyranees Mae, who I brought back to stay with us for the weekend... Meeting Rosie's dog next door.

LOL You've just got to love Lonesome Dove. I've seen it so many times I know most of the dialog. It is a great story.

I was looking at some catalogs awhile ago and saw some horse muzzles to keep from overeating. I can understand the reason but it seemed cruel.
