This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
So is it alright to post pictures on the threads over there or are you suppose to just give links?
I'm loading pictures of Harley's feet, I want to see what they say about him:)
Becky
I dunno... I posted a couple pictures but did the rest of them as links, cuz that's what others appear to do. I tried the attachment thingy - and it didn't work, not sure what I did wrong.
Possibly what she's trying to say is that even though the toes look square when looking at them from above, the whole foot has grown out so the toes and heels have both migrated too far forward in relation to the coffin bone. Like I said before, the angle of the sole shot isn't the best for telling anything about toe length and it's hard to tell about the heels because it looked blurry to me. We'll be able to tell more when she's freshly trimmed and you get better pictures.
I've got a new farrier coming on Wednesday who knows all about this stuff and is going to put some of those Natural Balance shoes like I showed you the other day on Bob and possibly Tennessee since he's got a problem with contracted heels. I'll try to take as many pictures as I can too.
Well I put all the pictures I took in an album by themselves. I'll see if I can figure a way to link just that album. I'll post them here to:)
Becky
Unfortunately you can't link to the snapfish album unless they are members there and you invite them.
You'll have to link them individually. I used the link button in the post screen.
They're gonna say his toes are too long. ;o)
Well I didn't know that! Now I know why some people I've e-mailed links to have had trouble opening them. Thanks!
Well I didn't know that! Could this be why some people I've e-mailed links to have had trouble opening them?
I guess my point is it's one thing to say "she looks like she needs a trim". That's different than "she's got long toes and under-run heels" as if she suffers from some malformed conformation problem, because I don't think she does. Hers look like very good feet that are due for a trim, not a bad conformation case than needs corrective measures, don't they? Do I know anything? ;~D
If you sent them links to the page, or the album, yeah.
Sorry for the double post. I thought it sounded better as a question than as a statement coz I really didn't know that and I didn't know I had already hit post.
:) Well, I'm not sure about *whatever* - that depends.
Well I can't figure out how to make a link, and the site won't let you post that many pictures, so they probably don't want you posting them at all.
I don't think I want them picking the shoe job apart anyway. It would just make me wonder, and I have enough to wonder about:)
Becky
Oh - go ahead and post it! Tuffy and I have had our horse's feet dissected ;~D
And if she's not been trimmed since the summer and has been running around in all that soft mud all winter, she looks pretty normal to me.
I doubt he'll want anything unseemly from an overweight, graying, 44 year old mother of 5 so I feel pretty safe.

She's been trimmed every 8 weeks - so she was last trimmed in Dec... I agree with where the growth is and what he'll likely take off when he trims. I'll take better pics after her trim.
Dissected is right!
You know, that guy that I talked with on the phone didn't like the way Tuffy's heart bars fit him, either.
I can't figure out how, or I probably would. Is there anyway to post a link to just one post on this thread? or would they see the whole thread, yikes:)
Becky
