When I was in the army back in the 60s I had a barracks mate who, oddly enough, owned a Ferrari.

What a beautiful car! Everything in it was hand made, from engine to the walnut paneled dashboard. Even the window cranks were hand-made. The leather must have been chosen by someone who picked through a warehouse full of hides, choosing only the very best.

Exactly... the price tag is indicative of the quality of the design and build. A Ferrari is more like a beautiful work of art such that it transcends being a mere automobile. And if you can afford one, you'll see why you fall in love with it. Its the ultimate status symbol.
