Kassie sent this to me in email today and I thought it was pretty funny:

A friend found this post from a new homeschool dad on the Internet:

We've got socialization covered!

When my wife and I mention we are strongly considering home-schooling our children, we are without fail asked, "But what about socialization?" Fortunately, we found a way our kids can receive the same socialization that government schools provide.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, I will personally corner my son in the bathroom, give him a wedgie and take his lunch money.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, my wife will make sure to tease our children for not being in the "in" crowd, taking special care to poke fun of any physical abnormalities.

Fridays will be "Fad and Peer Pressure Day." We will all compete to see who has the coolest toys, most expensive clothes and the loudest, fastest and most dangerous car.

Every day, my wife and I will adhere to a routine of cursing and swearing in the hall and mentioning our weekend exploits with alcohol and immorality. If our kids attempt to use the bathroom without permission, we will punish them immediately.

And we have asked them to report us to the authorities in the event we mention God or try to bring up morals and values.

LOL, that's a good one.

generally speaking, these same parents who think socialization is important are the ones who lose their children in the teenage years as a result to peer pressure: they begin to smoke, experiment with alcohol, pot and CDS's, they buy expensive clothes to fit in or they join gangs, Goths, the burn outs or other negative groups. Their big night out on the town is a walk through the mall, unsupervised and usually getting into trouble, since they're so brain dead they can't figure anything else to do. They will also learn how to bully and ostracize students so much that the picked-on students will retaliate with guns while the VP's and guidance counselors with their education and licenses to counsel have been doing nothing to abate the problem for years. They will also learn that illegal drugs will be tolerated with no drug tests going on while the girl with the midol tablet will get suspended for possessing drugs. They will also learn that parents do not matter and that society accepts pre-marital sex and abortion w/o letting the parents of the pregnant girl know. And when children are arrested for doing bad things, it's usually in that social group setting which many parents find so positive and pleasing.

yep, socialization does a child good.

many home-schooled children are socialized. Often times, they are taught in groups, play in little league, join the scouts and church groups, etc. and they usually win or place in the spelling and geography bees. It must work, look at all the presidents who were educated at home.

This post is very funny.

But,,,,think about it. If parents were to do this, the department of child welfare workers would be at the door accusing the parents of emotional and physical child abuse.

so....why aren't child welfare workers knocking on the doors of principals and teachers who allow this stuff to happen in schools? Huh? Aren't we supposed to have equal protection under the law? Shouldn't principals and teachers be held to the same abuse standards as parents?

I keep saying it. Government schools really are child abuse.
