Also, as Tony pointed out this week, it is not the bump-drafting he is worried about, it is the SLAM-Drafting that it has morphed into because of boneheads like Kyle Busch (Singlehandedly responsible for every incident in the Bud Shootout), and even my fav Little E. has a bad habit of SLAM-drafting instead of bump-drafting.
Not to mention the SLAM drafting in the corners which is a big no-no. I have Tivo'ed the Gatorade Duels today so I'm curious if NASCAR is really serious about punishing drivers for doing it.
I would agree that the younger drivers are cutting corners on their way to instant stardom. Dale, Sr. & the other veteran drivers knew just how far they could push things -- though I would argue that Earnhardt made a 'reputation' early in his career that helped him tremendously later on. (Oh, Sh-- there's the 3-car!) These younger guys are like headhunters compared to the old heads.
