LAFAYETTE, Colo. -- A 17-year-old girl who was not familiar with firearms accidentally shot her boyfriend while the two were hunting raccoons at a Boulder County farmhouse Monday night.
The sheriff's office said the incident was reported at about 9:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of North 95th Street, north of the Lafayette city limits.
They found Josh Kayser, 21, wounded in the right ear and left forearm by a .22-caliber rifle man's girlfriend was holding for him. Kayser told investigators that he was crouched down, peering under a shed, looking for a wounded raccoon while his girlfriend was crouched down behind him with the loaded rifle when it accidentally discharged.
The girlfriend, who was not identified because she is a juvenile, told investigators that she did not intend to fire the weapon and had never held a weapon before.
Kayser was rushed to Avista Hospital in Louisville for treatment of his injuries and was listed in good condition on Tuesday.
No charges were expected to be filed in the case.

If you'd like to be on or off this Upper Midwest outdoors list, please FRmail me.
I won't, but I'll bet I could find an post an accident a day almost indefinitely. Of course the 162,000 Cheney articles already printed would last awhile.

There was an old hillbilly comedian by the Name of Jerry Clower who told some great coon hunting stories.

She really screwed up. She's supposed to wait until he names her as a beneficiary in a 500k life insurance policy before having an "accident" like this.
