Football: Longhorns head to White House San Antonio Express-News
President Bush will welcome national champion Texas to the White House on Tuesday, about a month after the Longhorns upset top-ranked Southern California in the Rose Bowl.
The visit marks a reunion of sorts for Bush, who frequented UT sporting events while he was governor of Texas. Bush phoned congratulations to UT coach Mack Brown the morning after the Rose Bowl, but this will be the pair's first face-to-face meeting since the game.
Also, the UT system Board of Regents approved plans to expand and renovate the Longhorns' football stadium, giving the go-ahead to a $150 million project that would increase seating capacity to more than 90,000 by August 2008

Too bad the Aggie football team will never get to go to the White House unless it's a public tour or something. And no , I don't feel sorry for you.
Hook'em and let the flame wars begin!

Congratulations on winning ... the UT and A&M football programs successes are very cyclical ... We will kick your a** later ...

Offtopic: Heh. Poor ol' Mack Brown. I bet he's still embattled even after this championship.

Au contraire. UT just raised his annual salary up to $2.5M and are about to part with $150M for stadium renovations. Even Greg Davis (off. coordinator) was vindicated with the Rose Bowl victory!

Anybody else besides me thinking of that one scene in the movie "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" with all those dancing football players after winning a big championship?
To: The South Texan
It sure took 'em long enough.

Do you think Vince is still made at Bush for winning the Heisman? There will probably be some uncomfortable moments. I wonder if the trophy is on his desk in the Oval Office.

I think Spurrier is coaching at UT. Not next next year, but 2005.

"Too bad all you fair weather fans didn't get your way."
The only comment I made on that thread is that Steve Spurrier would be coaching at UT in 2005. Only because his name was being tossed around.
I may have said Mack disappointed me and I felt he needed to shake up his staff, WHICH HE DID. He brought in a coupleo of good defensive coaches and Greg Davis really redeemed himself.

Are you an Aggie fan?
Well you guys hired Coach Fran away from Bama and treated it like the second coming over in Aggyland? Talk about one of the most overrated coaches in the college ranks.

I am an Austin Aggie, so I have to put up with the snide little comments more than most. I just found it ridiculous how everyone was ready to fire Mack for winning almost all the games except for losing to Oklahoma. I thought the 2003 thread was ironic and thought it'd be fun for y'all to take a look back a couple of years.
Fran will have another year or 2 to prove himself. It'll be hard to fail next year with the easy schedule that we have. I think Darnell is more of a quick fix that can make the most of what we have now than a long term DC. I would still rahter have R.C. back in charge of the defense, but that's not likely to happen.

I was never on the fire Mack bandwagon like some of my fellow Horns. Sure I was pretty ticked off after getting whooped by OU in 2003(mind you it was nothing like the 77-0 whooping that Aggy took) He redeemed himself after that season when he revamped the D and let Greg Davis loose on the Vince Young experiment. I really like the way Mack himself kind of loosened up and it's reflective on the whole team.

My son and my money go to Texas A&M... The Aggies made it a game for the first half and then the better team won.
There is always next year.

Poor, misguided kid.
Just kidding of course. Good luck to him.
