Deaf Golfer Competes With The Best Save It Email It Print It (CBS 13) His name is Kevin Hall. He's been playing golf since he was nine. But he has never heard his club hit the ball or that wonderful sound that comes when your ball rolls into the cup.
Kevin Hall looks like any other golfer out there. Thee only difference? He can't hear a thing. He is completely deaf. A lot of times the gallery has no idea.
"When they see me signing, then I see their eyes going oh, what's he doing? What's that? said Kevin. My dad has to explain that I'm deaf. Their reaction is sort of priceless. I love it."
And fans aren't the only ones who don't know he's deaf...sometimes the officials don't even know. In fact, one time he didn't hear a rule change and was penalized for it.
You can tell by his laugh and his smile that Kevin is enjoying every minute of this and he should be. You see, he's lucky to be alive. When he was two he was hospitalized for a month with meningitis. Doctors didn't think he was going to make it. He made it, but lost his hearing.
"I got a second chance at life. God game me a second chance," said Kevin.
"To see him now, it's pretty emotional. I have to pinch myself. Is this really real? My sons playing with he top players in the world," said Percy Hall, Kevins father.

I tried that once and couldn't keep my balance. Almost fell over. A friend and regular golfing buddy started using it after DiMarco debuted it at The Masters and his putting has gotten much better. Works for him.
When he wins a Major or a PGA Tour event. I will consider that news.
And at least he isn't suing to get rules changed for him like Casey Martin.
After figuring out the obvious, that putting is about 50% of my strokes, I think the best thing I could do to shave 5-10 strokes off a round is to take putting lessons. New grip, long putter, figuring the grain, whatever, I need help.
I will make sure to ping you then. By the way, this is not newsworthy according to you so why are you posting to it? Just curious.
Here are a couple items that are not gimmicks, but really do help.
And the Sweet Spot Putting Track
I am not endorsing or suggesting you use the specific products linked. They were the quickest for me to find.
But the Putting Track is a great tool to get your putting stroke online and get rid of side to side action in the putter head path.
The sweet spot clip is a great addition to the putter track and best used after the track has been used for a while. If you don't hit the sweet spot, the ball shoots off sideways and not at the target.
And as far as newsworthy goes, a good chunk of threads on FR are not "newsworthy". But we post and discuss them anyway.
Sorry, should be the Sweet Spot Putting Clip for the 2nd item.
News worthy? No.
Though likely half or more of threads are not.
found it, thx
Another thing that will help your game a great deal is to get the hell out of NY! Come south where we play year round. Not 5 months a year. 6 if your lucky.
Like I said, over 4000 posts on various super bowl threads. And I agree with you, that being deaf and being a top golfer may not be that extraordinary. But its interesting to me. I guess what's newsworthy to one is not newsworthy to another person. I don't know much about golf and I was terrible at it but had fun with my dad the few times he took me out to hit a bucket of balls.
Thank you:)
Especially when the Dems take over next year and I lose my Beth Page Black connection.
