SEATTLE - And now a word about the officiating in Super Bowl XL. Two words actually.
It stunk.
The interference call, a push-off on Darrell Jackson that cost the Seahawks a first-quarter touchdown, was hideous.
If former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin hadn't been allowed to use his arm to get separation the innocent way Jackson did in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh, Irvin would have caught maybe 20 balls in his career.
And the fourth-quarter holding call on right tackle Sean Locklear that nullified a spectacular catch by tight end Jerramy Stevens at the Pittsburgh 1-yard line was equally egregious.

Excellent shot. You can clearly see the Steeler defender trying to tie up the Seattle receiver, also known as "defensive holding", or when the pass is in the air "defensive pass interference." You can see his left arm coming up trying to hook the Seattle player's right arm. Thanks for posting it.

Nice that you only show the end of that play, you conveniently leave out the part where the defender initiated the contact.
I don't follow sports at all, and the Super Bowl is the only football game I ever watch so I really don't have a dog in the fight. But I do know you're wrong. Poor officiating can take the wind right out a teams sails. The Seahawks came out of the gate strong and didn't falter until a few "perceived bad calls" were thrown at them.
You can turn that around and say "They shouldn't have been rattled" but there's a big difference between being rattled by the other team, which they weren't, and being rattled by the referees. Seattle was clearly rattled by the refs.
Too bad for you, that only the offensive penalty was called. Better luck next time.

That is clearly PI on the defender. He is standing there with two arms on the receiver who then extends his right arm to get away from the D-back.
Thanks for posting this. I am now convinced that Seattle got screwed. I also like how you tried to crop the video so as not to show even more contact by the D-back and it still backfired on you.

And I also notice that it's generally NOT a Seahawks fan giving the Steelers crap. It's generally a fan of another team that didn't even make it too the Super Bowl in the first place, YOU included.
