SEATTLE - And now a word about the officiating in Super Bowl XL. Two words actually.
It stunk.
The interference call, a push-off on Darrell Jackson that cost the Seahawks a first-quarter touchdown, was hideous.
If former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin hadn't been allowed to use his arm to get separation the innocent way Jackson did in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh, Irvin would have caught maybe 20 balls in his career.
And the fourth-quarter holding call on right tackle Sean Locklear that nullified a spectacular catch by tight end Jerramy Stevens at the Pittsburgh 1-yard line was equally egregious.

Yeah, they should have it on instead of the Pro Bowl. More would tune in, I think.
Have a cookie.
Worst teams = 3 Super Bowl Titles.
Nice logic there. I've also never said that the Raiders are any good right now. I just wanted to see a good Super Bowl, and Phil Leavy and his BANDits deprived me of one. It was ridiculous. Everyone at the party we had, including the SteAler friend from Pittsburgh, was up in arms over the horrendous officiating.
It was a joke.
The Raiders didn't win the Super Bowl. They weren't even in it?
Wonder why? Too many loses or something? Maybe the officials cost them their chance, huh?
I seriously am not understanding you. Why the anger? Feelings of guilt about the tainted SteAler title?
;)
It is in the rule that was posted in 138. The defender didn't see the ball, wasn't going for the ball, yet had his hands on the receiver.
This is a penalty on the defender or a no-call. It is not a penalty on the receiver, especially since the ref didn't throw the flag until the beaten DB begged for one.
It was pathetic, just like the rest of the bogus calls.
Go SteAlers!
See, you keep calling the Steeler victory tainted.
It is the whole Raiders team which is tainted. With fans like you and lousy players and coaches.
BS
but then again, you ARE a Raiders fan and ignorance is expected from such.
and the REF threw the flag immediately after blowing the play down.
I will say that this never would have been called, but the Seattle defender CLEARLY pushed off of the defender. If you can't see that, you're blind, but again, I point out that you are a Raider fan, so it makes sense.
Your CV includes employment with the Al Gore campaign '00, yes?
So you say the Raiders are tainted and it is OK, yet if I say the SteAlers win was tainted I am the bad guy.
Get over yourself. It's just a game, and the refs sucked. The bottom-line is the Lombardi Trophy goes to the SteAlers. Win with dignity.
No, the ref didn't throw the flag immediately. I have watched it on TiVo numerous times. The DB turns to whine, the ref goes for the flag, MISSES IT, then reaches again and throws it.
Go SteAlers!
BTW - keep hammering on the Raider thing. It only makes you seem more defensive of the SteAler win! :)
The fall of Par ... ,er Seattle. Choice!!!!
Hard to win with dignity with every bum on FR badmouthing the win.
And I suppose you wouldn't stick up for your team with so many derogatory remarks being made about them.
We Steeler fans would have been more than happy to just move on. But people like you just keep throwing out the barbs. Day four of the same crap now. It is beyond old.
Yet still, the Raider barbs.
Accept this treatment as a sign of the SteAlers being back on top. I am used to this stuff as a Raider fan; grow the skin a bit thicker!
You would have never gotten a barb from me about the Raiders if you hadn't badmouthed the Steelers, talking about a "tainted" win. They won the game. Sorry if you don't like it.
You brought it on yourself, but its all my fault, right?
Now what was I saying about a thicker skin?
And your barbs about "SteAlers" too. No bad sportsmanship there, huh?
The above post about bad sportsmanship it to you, of course.
Thin skin? Take a page out of your own book. Your skin seem pretty thin too.
