Six gay penguins at a German zoo are still refusing to mate with females of the species flown in from Sweden in 2005, the zoo said on Wednesday.
The problem was that the female Humboldt penguins have proven too shy in their advances, the director of the zoo in the northern port city of Bremerhaven said.
"The Swedes will not make the first move," Heike Kueck said.
The females were flown in last year in a bid to bring the males to mate and help save the Humboldt species from extinction.

Well, do you?
Heck NO!
I rarely wear them when I should - but wearing them why I don't need to - that is just silly!
PS... I'm tall enough - unless I'm hanging with the Lakers.
These pengoo-ins is practicly chickens...
Err. Facinating pics and all but what exactly is the pistol for in the third one ?
Its a slightly surreal scene................
"How in the hell do they know that the penquins are gay?"
I guess, whenever two male penguins start acting like a couple, i.e.: They hang out together a lot, pretend to be breeding etc.
"What does a penquin do to become gay?"
Well, most species have a certain (varying) percentage of gay/bisexual individuals (Just read about the mating rituals of toads - scary stuff). That specific zoo just had bad look they got all the gay males.
"Owl Eagle, thanks for the pics but do any ladies here actually layout in the sun with high heels on?"
If they get paid for it - be it by a photographer or a "sugar daddy"..... ;-)
Is one of the penguins named Deter?
God willing, we pengiuns will take down you people for putting into cartoon format. It is unacceptable. We have rights. We are the champions of the south pole. We demand UN action to dismantle the anti-penguin cartoon mafia in the press. It cannot stand....God willing.
