Tom Cruise gets nod for worst acting in '05
War of the Worlds role scores Razzie nomination, as does Rob Schneider

LOS ANGELES - Tom Cruise may have survived a Martian attack in last years remake of War of the Worlds, but he has failed to elude Hollywoods movie police.
The actor was among the contenders announced Monday for the annual Razzie Awards, which honor the worst achievements in film.
Cruise will compete for the years worst actor award with Will Ferrell (Bewitched, Kicking & Screaming), Jamie Kennedy (Son of the Mask), Dwayne The Rock Johnson (Doom) and Rob Schneider (Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo).

(Razzie) Foundation head John Wilson said in an interview he did not think Cruises portrayal of a working-class man in War of the Worlds was particularly credible.
While there were arguably worse performances, Cruises off-screen antics, either in support of Scientology, or in the throes of passion with new girlfriend Katie Holmes, ensured he made the grade, Wilson said.

Actresses Jenny McCarthy and Jessica Simpson also picked up three nominations. McCarthy was cited for worst actress, worst screen couple and worst screenplay for Dirty Love. Simpson will also vie for worst screen couple, as well as worst supporting actress as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazard.

Hi. I am Tom Cruise, and you're not!
I would rather have a root canal than watch Cruise try to act his way through Spielberg's amorphous and unsatisfying "War of the Worlds" again.
(An aside to Spielberg - if you want to re-make a classic flick - STICK TO THE ORIGINAL STORYLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
I broke my rule of never watching anything starring a lib or scientology cultist because of the tempting special effects in 'War of the Worlds" What an excruciatingly PAINFUL experience!!!
Cruise (on top of being a very, VERRRYYY BAD ACTOR) is a vile - VILE - human being.
I have seen him interviewed. He has all the sincerity of a rattlesnake.
Since he tortured me in this flick, I figured I should return the favor by posting this story.
Good luck with your competition Mr. Cruise!! I hope you win it!!
Cruise's acting was not as problematic as the stupid writing.
Regarding some of the other actors/actresses mentioned above, I have a couple of points:
Unlike Mr. Cruise, at least Jenny McCarthy and Jessica Simpson have some redeeming points - 4 to be exact :-)
Secondly, 'The Rock' is a real man and a pretty good actor (heck, whaddayathink wrestling is, anyhow?). He ought not to be mentioned in the same breath as the slithering one.
I'd like to see 'The Rock' wipe the perpetual smirk off Cruise's face....
Tom Cruise won't come out of the closet.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
Tom Cruise is like tofu sales - you wonder why both haven't gone out of business.
Although even a piece of tofu would probably be a better actor than Tom Cruise.
I'm not sure Tom can count you among his fans.
*LOL*
Oh you're good.
FR Rules, ladies & gents...
(Wives 1 & 2 plus the latest one)...BTW, Mimi Rogers is - by far - the hottest chick he's been with - if he had any brains he would have stayed married to her - despite the age difference....
I forgot the 'squirting microphone' incident - as I recall, he was a real ass about that too; 'that's not funny! that's not cool!' - a smart (and likeable) chap would have laughed it off, scoring beaucoup popularity points with the masses...
MISTER CRUISE. . . .
. . .THIS IS THE SOUTH PARK POLICE DEPARTMENT. PLEASE COME OUT OF THE CLOSET!
I will admit, I rather enjoyed the the Superbowl Commercial for Mission: Impossible 3.
ESPECIALLY the part where Tom gets thrown into a car hard enough to break windows.
That NEVER gets old. . . . ;-)
