Oddsmakers favor Colts, not Steelers next season ESPN.com news services
Despite winning Super Bowl XL, the Pittsburgh Steelers aren't the favorite next season.
The MGM Mirage has already installed the Indianapolis Colts, who lost to the Steelers in the playoffs this year after being viewed as the favorite much of the season, as 4-1 favorites.
The Seattle Seahawks, who lost Sunday to the Steelers, are the favorite in the NFC at 5-1.
The oddsmakers also have the New England Patriots, winners of three of the past five Super Bowls, at 5-1.
As for the champion Steelers, they and the Carolina Panthers are both listed at 6-1.

I don't think that happened. Dungy said after the game that they were going for it all along, but the kicking team got a little excited and started onto the field. manning, who is listening to the coaches via the headphone in his helmet, knew that dungy had decided to go for it, and motioned the kicking team back off the field.
he didn't overrule dungy; he just knew what the play was before the special teams players because he was wired.
A kick so bad it had to be intentional? P o s s i b l y.
Couldn't find a photo of just how absolutely hooked that kick was.
That's Dan Campbell not Jason.
^-- Cut THAT meat!
I hope you're right, Perdogg. Dallas beating anyone would be great. Start filling the other hand with diamonds and gold. The race to #6 is on.
The Browns won't make the Super Bowl next year.
They will have too many young guys on defense to do it.
Cowboys can't win a spelling bee.
Pats and Steelers AFC
Seagulls and Redskins NFC
The only kick that was worse was when the Texans missed against the Titans at the end of the game. At least the Texans had an excuse, to get the #1 pick.
You might be right, but at the time it appeared that Peyton was going against Dungy.
I do not remember the Chargers going to the Super Bowl till 1994. Was Fouts playing then?
the TV announcers certainly made it out that way at the time. they really did go on and on about dungy being "overruled", which, if it happened, I guess they should go on and on about it.
some sportswriters never caught up with the story. days later, some of them were still talking about it as though manning undercut his coach.
No looking in number 18's way...Don't look here comes Hillery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As far as the Browns go, I don't think I'll live that long, and possibly the sun will turn to a red giant the year it happens.
Fouts never won an AFC Championship. In both 1980 and 1981, he led the Chargers to the AFC championship game, but they lost to the Raiders and Bengals, respectively.
I was corrected on that earlier...Sorry I was serving overseas those years..I thought they had made it.
Yawn. This is what, four years in a row Vegas has said this?
Losing 'Edge' will be tough on the Colts and resigning Reggie Wayne isn't even a done deal. Steelers will be tough, but so will New England, Denver and Cincinnati. San Diego and Jacksonville won't be pushovers either.
And for all the whiny Seahawk fans out there, you've got a good team... a very good team. I can't help but think they will be the NFC frontrunner next year along with Carolina and perhaps Dallas if they can get their act together. Sorry Bears, try playing a first place schedule and see how far you go. Although they could win their division by default.
When they decided not to get into a shootout with the Gators...surprise, surprise. They won!
It's going to come down to them and New England.
I'm still impressed they went as far as they did.
