I just wonder how the Steelers fans would feel if the refs had called a bunch of bad calls against the Steelers. I don't blame the Steelers. I blame the refs.

Well we know what Joey Porter of the Steelers said after being on the losing end of 1 (albeit very) bad call in a game they WON:

""I know they wanted Indy to win this game," Porter said after the game. "The whole world loves Peyton Manning, but come on man, don't take the game away from us. "I felt they were cheating us. When the interception happened, everybody in the world knew that was an interception. Don't cheat us that bad. When they did that, they really want Peyton Manning and these guys to win the Super Bowl. They are just going to straight take it for them. I felt that they were like 'We don't even care if you know we're cheating. We're cheating for them.' "

LOL, oops, so much for this thread! (BTW, I agree with your sentiments. It isn't the Steeler players' fault, and they just had the most amazing playoff run in the history of the NFL.)

It's sad to see a man of Holmgren's stature lower himself with a remark like that.

It's good to see a man of Holmgren's stature stand up and tell it like is for once.

>>they were calling Seattle very closely, and the Steelers not nearly as closely<<

This is total BS. The call I observed that was CLEARLY missed (unlike the others that it was unclear or were clearly correct) went against the Steelers. I forgot the quarter, but Seattle caught a pass, then fumbled and the Side Judge ruled incomplete. Pitt would have recovered the fumble had the whistle not blown.

Just went from a class act to a big whining crying baby. Excuses-yeah, that's what greatness is made of. Say what you want about Porter's comments, after that ADMITTEDLY horrid blown call against the Colts, OUR head coach said THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY, THAT'S RIDICULOUS. Holmgren shrunk himself ten times compared to Bill Cowher.

Holgrem is one of the class acts of the league.

Up until now, true.

...a bunch of incompetent refs destroy any chance to compete fairly in the game was inexcusable.

LOL

Hyperbolic much?

And yet the Steeler apologists were high-fiving and kissing Joey Porter's ass when he said the same thing after the Indy game.

"same thing" ---- ignorant comment.

The NFL came out the next day and said the referee blew the call. But, Porter did go overboard. But "same thing"........ wrong!

All the left-coasters needed to win was a 60 yard wide field. Specializing in circus catches with one foot out of bounds is not a formula for success in super bowls.

Maybe Holmgren can then explain how the refs tricked his team into dropping passes, missing field goals, and squandering time during the end of the second quarter and the end of the fourth quarter....

hehe, those refs are ticky indeed....

Sorry but Seattle was plainly mediocre.
But frankly, so was Pittsburg.
Pittsburg just happened to bust off ONE )and only ONE) great run during the entire game, and a couple "trick" plays.
add these three fairly decent plays to some truly bad calls, and you have a winner, or in this case, one team simply wasn't as bad as the other...IMHO

I really don't think Holmgren missed the handshake on purpose, I watched the ending again and Cowher and everyone started celebrating with the 03 seconds left and people rushed the field and I think Cowher forgot and was talking to players/his family and then did the "wheres mike" later after Holmgren decided it was too crazy, Holmgren did go down and give him a big congrats in the locker room right after so I don't think it was a purposeful snub he probably thought it was too crazy and it seemed like Cowher was more the one who forgot.

The best you steelers fans can come with keep insulting the seahawks uniforms and whining about lattes. Ohhh my, such manly attacks. My feelings are destroyed now.
Everyone in Seattle hide in fear, the superior Steelers fans who never, ever bitch about anything will diss us about our cheerleaders hairstyles next.

Cower had just got doused with ice water and probably had other things on him mind, like his family and finally winning the big one.

But it is the losing coach's job to find and congratulate the winning coach.

Holmgren's just saying what every sportswriter and talk show host has been saying all day!! It's not poor character to point out that the refs made calls that changed the course of the game.

The calls may have changed the course of the game but that doesn't mean that they were wrong. (There were two Seattle fumbles, btw, that were negated by calls.)

There still is a great segment of "writers and talk show hosts" as you like to hold up as authorities, who think Dan Rather was right and the documents were real.

Get real!

Actually it is true.

ESPN polls today:

http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/story?page=thepulse

Did you enjoy the Super Bowl this year? (18,231 votes)
52.1% No
47.8% Yes

Do you think officiating mistakes affected the outcome of Super Bowl XL? (103,167 votes)
61.7% Yes
38.2% No

BTW, the 2nd question was earlier broken down by states, and the 'yes' won in every state but PA and WV.

Not that any of this will stop you from continuing to be one of the most annoyingly obnoxious posters on FR.

Holgrem won you a superbowl. How in the hell did he wreck your Green Bay Packers.

Pittsburgh only played poorly in the first half. They looked pretty good in the second half. Seattle was putting up a fight.

"I watched every "disputed" play on the HD Tivo except the "block in the back" and the only "bad" call against the squawks was the 15 yard penalty low block penalty, which meant nothing."

"The squawks were out played, out coached and obviously out classed."

****

Right......... I watched the game over too.

Holmgren should learn how to manage a clock and shut up.

Are you REALLY quoting a non-scientific, self-selecting webpoll? At least it's not Zogby.

Thanks for the Sore/Loserman graphic. Not only is Seattle a bunch of crybabies, their logo has to be the ugliest in professional sports, even uglier than the old Tampa Bay dreamsicle uniforms.

Thank freedumb2003. I just reposted the image he posted previously.

Which are those in denial, the sore losers who keep on making excuses for why Seattle lost. They got outplayed. Understand?
