Don't get me wrong here, I agree with most of what you have posted excetp this. You are citing only the casualites, not counting those who have been wounded. Also, the primary weapon used by the insurgents in Iraq is not small arms but IED's. Iraq is still a more violent place than the D.C. area, but not by much.
