Uhhh, I realize you wanted PITT to win the game. But the consensus opinion from the people on this thread who watched the game (none of who appears to be cheering for SEA) is that SEA got hosed by the zebras. Its not like they are going to overturn the game if you just admit what actually happened here. Just because somebody wins doesn't mean that the facts are different. Did Christine Gregoire "WIN" the election for Governor in Washington? Not until they had 6 recounts she didn't. The fix was in there too. Calling it like it is should be expected on a site where we don't drink Kool-Aid.

There is no appeal in the NFL and no reviews for 80% of what the refs do. Pittsburgh won. There is no disputing that either. SEA made handfuls of unforced errors and mental mistakes to compound the officiating. It just sucks if you are actually a SEA fan or want to be sure that the game is on the level each year. Can you imagine if the Colts were in the SB or the Eagles with Donovan McNabb? You KNOW that the refs would be working to make sure that the popular team won. Its just surprising that it was PITT.

PITT did have one of the most dominating playoff runs ever. They literally beat the crap out of each team they played until they ran into SEA. The storybook finish was apparently fait accompli (pardon my french) but PITT definitely deserved to be in Detroit this year as did SEA.

Seattle did not get robbed. They had plenty of opportunities but failed to capitalized.

They simply lost to a better team. And the NFC is beginning to resemble the AFC of the 80s and early 90s.

Imagine if you were a Seahawk fan and a Republican. You've had an election and a Super Bowl stolen out from under you in the course of 14 months. Sad.

So what you are saying is that a sport which has rules governing the game, and for this particular play included a review by officials using game video, and who were not drinking beer, is to be discounted as valid because YOU didn't agree? Ever watch John McEnroe play tennis? Think every call went his way? Should his record be revised based on YOUR calls? lmfao

Seems all the playoff games were tainted with bad bad bad officiating.

Who in their right mind wants to watch games where the outcome is predetermined, come hell or high water.

I hate to say it - but I agree as well.

I thank holmgren for what he did for the packers. OTOH, he left the Packers on such a sour note that I'm glad he didn't win.

If Holmgren hadn't been the Seahwaks' coach, I'd have been rooting for them.

As it was, I was an ambivalent Steelers fan for this game.

The ads were pathetic this year! Is the economy in a recession, for advertisers to come up with such a pathetic series of ads. Only good ones were the Fedex cavemen and the Budweiser horses. (I missed the sheepdog commercial but people were raving about it.)

My dear, you don't win the superbowl just because you got there beating three tough teams.

The way the Steelers played tonight was not pretty and frankly, they couldn't have done it without the 12th. man, the zebra!

the stealers made some penalties, but didn't get called on them. Seattle made some plays that never should have been called as penalties. Are you saying that when Matt tackled the guy w the ball that was a fair penalty??

I'm disappointed and if we lose, we lose - -but I have a hard time dealing w a loss when the game the refs don't let the game be played on an even playing field

"brush of a hand?"

He grabbed and pulled on the jersey. Ergo, tackled.

Like in the bogus call in the NFC championship game. Except there, the ref had thrown a flag for "block in the back" against NC, but then they picked it up...bullshit. The NFL chief of officiciating admitted that was a bad call. I wonder how many bad calls the NFL will admit to after tonight's game.

That was a brush of a hand. It was a fumble.

That's all it takes to call the man down.

I enjoyed the pre-game show with the Motown sound, and the parade of former MVP's incl. Lynn Swann and Franco Harris. I enjoyed the Stones (I hadn't expected to like them).

I agree that the Steelers got the benefit of most of the calls but: 1) it's good to see an organization owned by a family of unpretentious Micks beat a flaming liberal zillionaire owner (Microsoft); 2) it's good to see the home of Iron City Beer defeat the liberal bastion of Starbucks and sushi.

Incidentally, Art Rooney, who passed away in the 1980s, acquired the Steelers in the early 1930 with racetrack winnings. The team was the NFL doormats for decades as the Rooneys barely had enough money to keep the Steelers afloat. When the NFL because socialistic with the draft and revenue-sharing, the Steelers suddenly were on an even playing field and became successful.
