I read an article a while ago how the Pixar folks watch Hayao Miyazaki's works for inspiration. Miyazaki does old-style animation, no computers. I think what makes them a success is they have a "story first" philosophy, as well as technical excellence.
I even read one report that Lasseter is taking over creative duties for the parks, but that hasn't been confirmed anyplace official that I've seen yet.
He is, it was in the Disney press release.
Proctor kills me. Especially in part 3 when he is stuffing his face with shrimp cocktail.
One sequel that would be worth seeing is The Incredibles II. The first movie was awesome.
And IMHO, Toy Story 2 was even better than the first one. And the first one was incredible.
They're working on Cinderella 3 right now.
No joke.
Trivia question: Which actor has appeared in each of the Pixar films?
Eugene Tackleberry was the man.
John Ratzenberger? (Cliff on Cheers) I'm not sure, but I can't remember seeing a Pixar movie without his voice in it.
Not the main reason, but something that may have had an influence. I can't imagine how it would feel being the creator of The Incredibles, only to see a series of straight-to-video Disney sequels.
I know he was the pig in the Toy Story flicks, the impressionist school of fish in Nemo, and the circus flea in a Bug's Life.
Who was he in the Incredibles?
RIP, David Graf (1950 - 2001).
Underminer.
Oh, no. I just checked on IMDB, and they're doing the standard sequel schtick of "Antagonist comes back to haunt the protagonist after you all thought she was defeated." I don't think I'll expose my kids to this garbage.
Iger is declaring "I am a great businessman and can run this company very well, but I'm not an artist who can create things people want to see." Implicitely he's slapping Eisner for having put himself forward as that. I'm hoping Iger is being the anti-Eisner here. Now, if we can keep Jobs from beginning to have those delusions himself and leave the Pixar folks to be the creative force then Disney will come back better than ever.
I mean, think about it! Lassater with the entire Disney/ABC empire! The mind boggles. I'm betting Roy is thrilled and that Walt is smiling on this possibility.
K4 was no better come to think of it.
Roy hated Eisner, so you're probably right. He was instrumental in Eisner's ousting, partly over Disney losing Pixar because of Eisner being a dick (Jobs said Eisner condescendingly treated him like an inferior instead of as the CEO of the best animation studio in the world).
Walt must finally be getting a rest from that constant spinning he's been doing the last decade.
John Ratzenberger
That's right. I was watching The Incredibles, wondering when Ratzenberger would show up. Had to wait right until the very end.
Ghostbusters II....
