(Also, St. Fleur owed the gas company big time, etc. Did Reilly pick a black (Haitian-born) woman as a response to fellow Dem. Deval Patrick, who is black, and current Lt. Gov. Kerry Murphy Healey, who is female?)

Will Mass. elect this buffoon Dem.? Here's the situation: Mass. hasn't elected a Dem. gov. since Dukakis in '86, though the state has elected Democrats in just about every other position. Mitt Romney, current gov., wants to leave after this, his first term (how come no Dems. leave after one term?), though, of course, he's prob. running for President.

On the GOP side: his Lt. Gov. Kerry Murphy Healey and businessman Christy Mihos (unless he runs as an Independent). On the Dems, Attorney Gen. Reilly and "pro-business" Clinton guy Deval Patrick.

Reilly's search for a running mate had led to broken promises (ask Worcester mayor Tim Murray), a futile search for a big-money guy to help his campaign (Chris Gabrieli), and now he picks the woman who led the effort to give in-state tuition to illegals. And now THIS comes out about her. Reilly also was in an embarassing situation when he helped to squash info about a double-fatal crash; the father of the deceased girls was a contributor, and the family's neighbor is Bob Davis of Lycos fame and a supporter of his as well, IIRC.

The GOP can only hope that the inept Reilly gets the Dem nomination.

Howie Carr ping: sure to be talked about on Howie's show
today. Tom "Unfortunately" Reilly's running mate pick gets
on the front page of the Globe...for all the wrong reasons!

>>he acknowledged that he didn't make any inquiries about the extent of her financial problems before inviting her to join his campaign.

As WRKO's John DePetro asked this morning, if this guy's
specialty is _investigating_, why didn't he investigate that?

>>The public record of the federal tax liability is missing from the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds, where it should be readily available to anyone doing a database search. Secretary of State William F. Galvin, who oversees the Registry, said he is launching an inquiry to make sure no one acted to remove the record.

''At best, it was a clerical error; at worst, it was something else," Galvin said.

Sure. Sure.

>>The existence of the tax liabilities in city, state, and federal records immediately raised questions about why Reilly's campaign made no effort to scrutinize St. Fleur's background before Reilly, the leading candidate in polls for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, invited the popular Dorchester legislator to be his running mate.

The story says that evidence of the Federal tax lien that exists against her is missing from the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds.

I'd be willing to wager that any tampering with such records is a Federal offense.

Maybe he should've paid more attention to her character and less to her gender and race.

He's going nowhere.

Maybe this explains St Fleur's support of in-state tuition for illegal aliens. Heck! if you don't pay taxes why should you care?
