State Representative Marie P. St. Fleur, Attorney General Thomas F. Reilly's choice to be his lieutenant governor running mate, has had three delinquent tax debts in the last four years, including an April 2005 federal tax lien of $12,711 against her and her husband, according to records examined yesterday by the Globe.
(snip)
Reilly, St. Fleur said, first approached her Saturday about being his running mate and offered her the spot on Sunday. She said she told Reilly that she had ''some financial issues" with taxes and student loans, but that he didn't ask her to provide any numbers and only sought assurance from her that she was dealing with the problems.

She just quit.
Yup, had a press conference to announce her withdrawal.
She was only in it a day or two! Everyone laughs at us
because of Kerry and Kennedy; well, Reilly is a buffoon
in the same mold and let's hope he doesn't win the governership. Hackerama and arrogance in the tradition
of Dukakis!
He's very much like Dukakis. They have the same kind of arrogance, except Reilly isn't as smart.
I heard Reilly on radio today admitting that his "political" skills may be lacking. Well, that's a first coming from a man wanting to be a politician, isn't it?
Ha! ha! We'll (in MA) have big egg on our faces if we elect him!
Had to laugh today at letter in Boston Globe; file under
"they just don't get it". Notice the "she didn't pay her
taxes, and yet wants to be able to raise ours" angle
doesn't come up:
>> Is the story of her debt a sufficient reason for discounting her voice on social policy and her vision for the Commonwealth?
The story of her refusal to pay taxes, loans, etc. and not even apologizing for that is sufficient reason. So is the fact that our crackjack investigative attorney general who has
"known her for years" failed to investigate her financial
situation. UNFIT TO COMMAND.
She's UNFIT alright.
But fortunately, more than just being unfit (except in the minds of the Kool-Aid drinkers) she has substantially weakened a man who was vying for the Governor's office. The headline is: "I am not good at politics" That about says it all, future guv.
So Marie, it's a good thing you have done. I heard he announced today he will not pick another Lt. Governor...what is it? a little gun shy now Mr Reilly?
