That's what happened with the Pit Bull biting the tires. He was shot several times and didn't release his jaws from the tire until he died. Some breeders claim that Pit Bulls are impervious to pain.

They are, once they are on the attack. It is part of their nature as fighting dogs. They get full of adrenalin, and will continue with the attack until they either win the fight or die.

Pit bulls can be nice dogs, but if something triggers their fighting instinct, they alter in an instant. As one English writer said, they can be kept as pets, but one day the dog's eyes go glassy, and it springs its big surprise.

Another problem is that they are hugely powerful. They can't be subdued.

A Pit Bull attacked a neighbor's Beagle. I hit the Pit Bull with three rounds from my .357 .

That got the dog's attention, he dropped the Beagle. I imagine he was was in shock. He started to trot away.

Another neighbor put seven rounds from his 9mm into him. . At that point , the dog had some serious sucking wounds, he collapsed and died.
