I'd like to see the stats on that one. I have a very hard time believing that "most" pit bull owners are "regular people." I never see any regular people with these dogs on the news, even the ones who haven't attacked (yet).
Perhaps a middle ground would be to ban these dogs from urban and suburban areas. We don't allow pigs and sheep to wallow in city streets, and they haven't mauled any children.
I think for that particular breed, a special license should be required as with exotic animals.
If I cannot have a lion, a leopard or a puma, they can't have a pit bull without the professional handling qualifications.
