BTW--I do not really believe that the breed is beyond redemption. Aggression was bred out of bulldogs (the specific breed, that is) in a few short decades, after bull-baiting was banned in merrie olde England.
"I do not have any problem at all with a dog--any breed--being humanely euthanized when it has been proven to be dangerous. Put the dog down so there is no chance of it being adopted out to another potentially irresponsible owner, then PUNISH the irresponsible owner who owned said menace."

We have to keep in mind though that "pit bulls" are part terrier.
Terriers do have an accentuated prey drive.
While any particular "pit bull" will have this trait to a greater or lesser extent,
anyone considering owning one should made aware of this.
