I posted the instructions for the graphical version because that's what I assumed most people are using. For the console version:

Run config
Yes to "Change advanced options"
Yes to "Request WUs w/o deadlines"
Yes to "Minimize networking -- get and submit work in batches"

I don't think that higher points are due to running in batches, but due to using deadlineless WUs. I use batch processing just in case I can't connect to the internet.

I went through the menus and didn't spot the one on batch processing.

That could be very useful if you think you will be unable to connect to the internet for some reason.
