Ditto. I grew up in an area where there are only public schools. All small, rural, agrarian-based school districts.
Altho there are growing numbers of homeschooling options many people work outside the home no matter where they live because, gosh darnit, we've all got bills and mortgages/rent.
Amazingly enough, I am meeting more agnostics that are choosing homeschooling, too. Even they are sick of the crap in some of these schools.
and i take issue with wintertime saying that you can't undo the indoctrination. even in Catholic schools there is a lot of crap that is spouted and my kids KNOW it's crap when it is presented to them. They will come home and say so. Parents are the primary educators of their children no matter what sort of schooling-- home, public, private-- that they provide. if you are doing your job properly as parents, no school is going to un-do it.
one anecdote: my then 10 yo daughter brought into her class, the talking Geo Bush doll, and the Clinton and Kerry dog chew toys, prior to the election last year. Her teacher asked why she didn't have a Bush chew toy. my daughter rolled her eyes and said, well i guess we know YOU are a democrat! this same kid bought herself with her own money a Friend Don't Let Friends Vote Democrat tshirt which she wears to her (private) school. : ) no one is going to indoctrinate that kid, i assure you.
