Notebook: Starks gives tickets to W.Va. family
By Joe Rutter and Rob Biertempfel TRIBUNE-REVIEW Friday, January 27, 2006
Right tackle Max Starks is giving four of his Super Bowl tickets to a family involved in the mining tragedy in Sago, W.Va. Starks said Thursday he wanted to keep the matter private and was reluctant to speak about it, but he did admit it was a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to help out the family, which he did not identify. After receiving a letter requesting autographed gear, Starks consulted his mother, Elleanor, and decided to send the family four of his tickets. Each Steelers player is allotted 15 tickets for the big game. Starks will give the rest of his allotment to family and friends.

I just went through this terrible tragedy, so I'm gonna write a letter to a football player and ask for some autographed stuff. Sounds a little weird.
Ya know maybe one of the kids of one of the men who died in the tragedy is a big Steelers fan and maybe an autographed picture may bring some solace to their loss.
You big Libertarians are heartless.
Pretty strange. I can't imagine that a mining family in W.V. would send such a strange request after this tragedy. This smells like a scam to me.
I'll bet those tickets are on eBay even as I write and read.
Ah, c'mon. For all we know, the person was asking for stuff for kids who lost their father. I wouldn't be so quick to judge their motives during such a difficult time.
Exactly. But what's that quote, "No good deed goes unpunished".
I'm not a libertarian you dumbass troll.
I would love to see Sir Gawain and Dane joust!
Dane has no weapons, but maybe he can taunt well from the castle walls.
Perhaps you are unfamiliar with Steeler fans?
This isn't any stranger than Hank Williams, Jr. showing up (in his Steeler cap) at the bedside of the comatose mine survivor.
