As long as my face isn't on one of the cans...

Oh, if you do run out of cans, see if you can find one of these to shoot out the tree:

""""Astronomy potd really needs to discover that there are other telescopes than the hubble."""""

I'm f---ing this goat, newbie.

Care to name a few of those telescopes? (without Googling)

You want to start a thread then do so, but you make a choice when you open the thread to look my picture. If you don't want to see my Picture for Today that then don't open the thread because it may very well be another Hubble picture. As a matter of fact I think I will post only Hubble pictures for the next two weeks because it is my thread.

You already got into at least three altercations in the six days you've been here so if you are looking for another one, I will be happy to oblige. Just be careful not to bite off more than you can chew.

Maybe I will call my thread, "Hubble Picture for Today"
or "MY Picture for Today"
or "Only Hubble Pictures Because It's My Damn Thread Picture for Today"
or "Any Picture I Want and I Don't Want Any Smartass Comments From Newbies Picture for Today"

I'm just jerking you around, newbie. But you can bet there are others here in this forum who live for this type thing and are not very nice. If you here a cat meow, then you know it's coming.

Welcome to Free Republic.

This astronomy picture for today thread posted Tuesday 24th. Taken by 3.6-m Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii. so there

See, now that's just beautiful. The Hubble seems to get all this attention while all the new giant earth based telescopes get ignored. I've heard of astronomers saying that they would much rather have spend the 3ish billion dollars on earth based telescopes than one space telescope. This was back whe adaptive optics was a new idea and I don't know if that idea is working out very well.

My favorite hubble shot of all time is definitely the deep field. I waited some 25 years for that.
