WOW!!!!! The way-cool Free Software Foundation is going to provide us a free version of the Flash Player plugin. I am so excited. Now I too can be among the privledged to experience Flash... and without shelling out a single penny to do it. I can hardly contain my excitement...................
Oh wait, I just remembered. I already have a free Flash Player. Macromedia already gave it to me for free. It works beautifully (well except for those "Stune the Beeber" style ads that fzx12345 mentioned). So, I may be missing something important here.... but just why in the world would I need another free Flash player?
Maybe y'all could explain it to me.

Will users be able to selectively not display flash files in the plugin? If you use Firefox, you can use the Flashblock extension. It will replace flash animations with a button that you can press if you want it to play. It's on my short list of essential extensions.

See post #24 for a selective flash blocking extension.

fnord mentioned it to me up around post 3, but made me hunt it down myself. I installed it, and it really helps. Thanks for putting up links (I didn't think to do so myself) and pointing it out again.
As a side note, I try to run a faily lean Firefox due to hardware considerations, but the extension has had no ill effects upon my surfing.

I use several extra extensions at work that I use for troubleshooting applications that would just slow me down here. You might be interested in the NoScript extenstion though. It is another thing that is better than sliced bread IMO.
