He was ice cold!
Just about as cold as he'd have to be to say "No. Mr. Sinatra can come to me..."
Brass pair. Definitely.
Boxing promoter Dan Duva on Mike Tyson hooking up again with promoter Don King: "Why would anyone expect him to come out smarter? He went to prison for three years, not Princeton."
Tommy Lasorda , Dodger manager, when asked what terms Mexican-born pitching sensation Fernando Valenzuela might settle for in his upcoming contract negotiations: "He wants Texas back." (1981)
And of course Bob Uecker:
"In 1962 I was named Minor League Player of the Year. It was my second season in the Bigs."
On how to catch a knuckleball "Wait until it stops rolling and pick it up."
Smart move. Teams wearing black get penalized more. Or they used to anyway.
I've always wondered: What do the three diamonds represent? The three rivers? Also, why is the logo only on one side of their helmet? NOTE: If you answer by saying, "That's the way Mr. Rooney liked it," I'll jump out of my skin.
What hint?

and numerous sports teams have switched to black uniforms in recent years because they believe it creates a more intimidating presence.
Um, that's the way Mr. Rooney liked it.
Story is that he was iffy on whether he wanted the decals on the helmets, so they tried it on one side of the helmet. That then became the tradition.
It has been put forth that the three "diamonds" (they're actually hypercycloids) represent the elements used to make steel. Yellow for the earth, red for fire, and blue for water.

The Steelers logo consists of three (diamond-like) hypercycloids. What does each color represent?/The three materials used to make steel. Yellow is coal. Orange is Ore and Blue is for Scrap.

Thanks for all the info. I figured that Mr. Rooney had something to do with it. I'll dig up my Spirograph and try my hand at the hypercycloid. Good luck to the Steelers. I'm just hoping for a good game even though the hour-long halftime extravaganza will ruin it for me.

At least its better than the font the Ravens use. :) |

Ben Roethlisberger --- VII LOL! Nice, good-humored fun for a Wednesday afternoon. :) |
You've got that right. I'm a purist when it comes to certain things. When Dallas changed it's number style in 1982, something was lost. Several years later, Pittsburgh changed theirs. I hated it then and still do. The last time I can recall Pittsburgh having the old style was SB 30. They must have caved in to the "pop culture" thing. That is, change what was established and ruin it while making a truck load of bucks. At least they kept the same design of their uniforms. They are one of the best looking in the league.
So am I.
Must not be very important.
