Wow, scouting can be expensive, then add on the cost of the uniforms, trips, annual physical for camp, then camp fees usually $250/wk +

 

oh, fyi, this is the home council of the dale case,  the council probably incured high legal fees that led to this shortfall.  One of the reasons why National BSA acquiesced to allow women Scoutmasters and Cubmasters, they always won  each individual case but couldn't afford all the legal fees and finally gave in to the feminazis.  Thanks to the ACLU.

Membership in the Scouts has been on the decline in recent years.

A very sad thing to hear. So, now boys can experience the great outdoors by riding in their Mom's mini-van down to the soccer field. There they can run back and forth for awhile and have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

Meanwhile, the boys that are members of Scouting will be learning things like lifesaving, swimming, hiking, camping, survival, and so much more.

Remember, send donations to Scouting and not United Way.

I'd pay it more than happily, for two sons, to have them experience the wonderful things they have gained from being in Scouting.

Bring it on, ACLU. You will lose.

We pay dues of $60 yearly, with two Scouts, and summer camp is only $170 here.

Winter camp is great, and only $55.

My youngest son and oldest daughter (in a Venture crew) sold popcorn like crazy this year, however, and because of how well they did ($740 in sales) one of our Scouts has his dues, winter camp, and summer camp paid for this coming year.

Scouting can be affordable if you work at it. And it is so worth it!!

Our Council doesn't charge any extra money over and above the National fees. This is the first time I've heard of a Council that has done this. But as you say, this is the Council that was afflicted by the Dale vs. BSA case. This is why the Equal Access Act and the Support Our Scouts Act were passed. The strategy by the opponents of the BSA's membership criteria has been "death by a 1000 cuts". File a huge number of lawsuits, lose them all, but deplete the BSA's treasury so that they waste their resources on lawyers instead of spending it on the youth that it was intended for. These acts help stop that.

I must say that I have worked with numerous female Scouters and have found them active, able, and dedicated. I know of more than one unit that would not exist due to lack of leadership if women were not allowed to be unit leaders. I have been in Scouting as an adult for over 13 years and have been very active at the District and Council levels and I have never met a female Scouter who was in Scouting for a political/social agenda.

I believe that when and if the Boy Scouts are completely self funded, the left wing fundamentalists will not relent on their assault.

There is a lot of money to be made in the boycott industry.
