The new president on The West Wing will be a real short-timer: NBC announced yesterday it was pulling the plug on the Emmy-winning political drama in May after seven seasons.
Although this seasons story line with a presidential campaign involving a Democrat played by Jimmy Smits and Republican portrayed by Alan Alda has been strong critically, ratings have sunk with its move to Sunday nights.
The decision to cancel it was made before actor John Spencer, who played former presidential chief of staff Leo McGarry, died of a heart attack Dec. 16, said Kevin Reilly, NBC entertainment president.
Geez, I feel kinda guilty. It's being cancelled and I haven't even watched one episode.
You're right. This is big news. I'll post the LA Slimes reaction ASAP.
LOL
Is that Michael Moore or the whale that swam up the Thames?
He's a good actor, but I'm not sure he's ~that~ good :~D
Alda did much better as a pro-choice GOP candidate than John McCain did ; )
"But I did pick up on a tone of liberal preachiness to it."
The biggest weakness of the show was that it didn't portray both sides fairly. Lots of strawman argument. They had a set of conservative advisors 1st season, but fired them and replaced it with all libs, so what you eneded up with was the typical elitist liberal bigotry portraying "evil" repubs thru the Leftist lens.
Sad too. Good writing. But like watching Van Gogh paint in monochrome...
Why are you insulting that poor whale?
Finally
but, but, but, CIC just won a Golden Globe?
Did it really?!
I actually liked the Toby character for same reason. Seems pretty realistic.
campaign contributions of...
Martin Sheen
John Spencer
Alan Alda
Jimmy Smits
Bradley Whitford
Janel Moloney
Allison Janney
Stockard Channing
Aaron Sorkin
