Thank you for the ping. This may, if we don't go overboard and allow the media to paint us as drooling fanatics, work for us.

The Oscars will get a lot of coverage. Should Broke Back Mountain win, it will convince a lot of people that Hollywood and those who back it (or who it backs) are not just completely out of step, but truly dangerous. A lot of people expect the liberal craziness to be crazy and just--well, adjust to it. But there is a post above that suggests that most people are uninformed--and since I deal with the public everyday in my professional life as a professor in(I am sorry to say) the Humanities, I can certainly vouch for that. What little the kids "know" would make you wince.

Until the invisible majority of Americans begin to try to take back their society, including education, the crazy stuff will go on and on.

With Broke Back, we can hope that community activists on our side will rally to try to preserve community standards. If the Supreme Court then overrules such, we get a great political motivator.

So, my hope actually is that this wins. It was, I can tell you professionally, NOT a well made movie. So, it will upset people and that is good. ("Good Night and Good Luck" was well made by the way, but it was very thin in the story line. No one knows enough to see that it was thin, "Good Night and Good Luck," therefore, hurts us if it wins.)

So do all you can to help this one win and try to set up the next confrontation to help preserve our communities.

Am I being too optimistic?

A conservative professor, wow.

Check out www.brain-terminal.com , he is doing a documentary of the left wing bias in universities, free d/l, good little piece, the full film is due out in 06.

I can say that my school USF is the same way, I write tons of letters to the editors about stuff, and I'm constantly snubbed, while some stupid thing is put in the paper. All the stories are slanted and so on...

BBM is a terrible display of what is wrong in America.
