Saw him in Houston in about the mid 1970s and also saw Ray Charles then. I think at Jones Hall. GREAT SHOW!
"Hey everybody, let's have some fun,
"You only live once and when you're dead, you're done...
"So let the good times roll,
"I said let the good times roll...
"Don't care if you're young or old, get together and let the good times roll."
"The Thrill Is Gone!" I love BB King.
I saw BB King in the early 90s at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
It was billed as his farewell tour--he was going to stop touring.
Since then, I smile and laugh each time I see that he is still actively out there, making the tour stops.
Three Cheers for a man who does his "work" so well, is loved by so many. I hope he can live and play and sing another 100 years.
BB is a class act on and off stage.
When the old man is gone I hope the put 'Louise' in a place of honor in the museum. Some one should take it out and play it every year on his birthday. I can not think of more fitting tribute to a fine man.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
BB use to play the Golden Bear in Hunt.Bch in the 70's. One time my husband got us backstage and BB drank champagne with us and personally signed his press photo for me. Very nice man in addition to being my absolute favorite.... loved Hummingbird....
Blues Boy King - an American treasure!!!
While stars are falling all around him, more power to him and his work.
It will be a sad day when The Thrill Is Gone for good.
We've also been lucky enough to catch him twice over the past few years at the B.B. King Blues Club in NYC's Times Square (excellent musical venue) - front row seats both times. I guess you can say we're big BB King fans. ;-)
The man is a class act, and still has an amazingly clear and strong voice. My husband and I marvel at how this 80-year-old can still make that guitar sing...
I caught him a few years ago @ the Indy Jazz Fest,
What can I say but wow....any FReepers out there that like jazz, the Indy Jazz Fest is great

But he'll keep playing his hometown Indianola, Mississippi annual concert.
You never leave the Delta 'til God calls.......
