Air America: Malloy calls conservatives Nazis; WLIB back to Caribbean overnight?

All Access confirms Malloy will not be getting cleared in New York but not because of ABC's "The Satellite Sisters." Inner City Broadcasting, owner of WLIB, is reclaiming Malloy's hours and will be broadcasting Caribbean music. WLIB had a full-time Caribbean format (with somewhat better numbers)prior to AAR's launch and has continued to broadcast Caribbean programming during the overnight hours (AAR has leased the station from 5 am to 12 midnight). The third hour of Mallow's show has never been cleared in New York.

So, far the Satellite Sisters weekday show airs only on XM Radio (12 pm to 3 pm). An announcement of weekday syndication for terrestrial radio has been predicted but so far no announcement has been made.

Direct competitor Alan Colmes (hours two and three)airs in New York from 11 pm to 1 am on WWRL. Lionel (hours two and three) airs on WOR also from 11 pm to 1 am. Phil Hendrie is not currently cleared in New York.

Malloy has a snowball's chance of getting cleared on one of NYC's good sticks. His only shot is one of the brokered/ethnic stations at the high end of the AM band, and then only if AAR pays for clearance.

I know some of you will object to the question, but could AAR's cut-back on leased hours be a cost saving move? Matt says Malloy said AAR must show a profit in this calendar year. Or else what?

I do NOT predict AAR will disappear. I do predict the company will be sold, most likely to Jones, Premiere or another syndicator within a year. The question then becomes, if AAR changes hands again, will the new owners keep the network model and operate as a turnkey network (like Salem and ESPN) or will they go to a traditional straight syndication model?

MIKE MALLOY's AIR AMERICA RADIO show will lose its live clearance on the network's flagship, INNER CITY Talk WLIB-A/NEW YORK, which will expand its overnight Caribbean programming to add MALLOY's late-night hours effective JANUARY 23. The show continues on the network and XM SATELLITE RADIO.

Washington comPost: "For next month's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), media director Andrea Saul sent 500 invitations to radio talk shows inviting them to broadcast from the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Although most of the broadcasters on-site are darlings of the right, Saul also contacted several liberal hosts and producers...

" 'Um . . . you're kidding, right? Why would I have any desire whatsoever to attend or participate in a convocation of neo-Nazis????? I had two uncles fight against you [expletive] in WW2. And, now, surprise! surprise! here you all are on US soil. Kindly get the [expletive] off my email. Thanks.' "

"I'm all for a difference of opinion, but this is entirely uncalled-for, and all the more offensive when you consider that I'm Jewish, lost family in the Holocaust and had a grandfather almost killed during WWII." Her complaints to Air America execs have gone unanswered. A spokeswoman said the network would have no comment.

I called into Malloy's radio show one night and managed to get that left wing nut job to lose his cool and call me every name in the book.

Malloy was praising an Ohio Candidate for the Senate who was an Iraqi War Vet who used Bush in his campaign ads, yet failed to tell his constituents that he was a democrat.

I pointed this out to Mike Malloy and he want nuts on live radio by screaming that I was a Rush Limbaugh listener

This guy has to be the biggest tool on air america yes even bigger than franken or garaffalo, I have to admit i dont listen to the show that much but have switched to that channel a couple times when my regular station was on commercial, and this character in the space of 2 minutes was totally insane the name calling was ridiculous.

I have listened to him from time to time and he is totally unhinged about Bush and has invited his listeners to take to the streets if the impeachment crowd can't get any traction. Here is a quote from "Ishtar" who is complaining about his loss of hearing Malloy on WLIB Mike has asked us to "be nice" and explained that it was just Air America business. I suspect, however, that shutting Mike up is strictly "Swift Boat" business. They are out to get Mike. New York is just the beginning of the right-wing jackals campaign to silence the Malloy clarion voice of truth.

Everything is Bush doing, doncha know!!! Err Amerika's death cannot come soon enough. BUT I am afraid the George Soros' of the world will keep them alive so the LLL has a voice against that evil Limbaugh. If Err Amerika runs out of bazillionaires to fund them, they will turn to Congress for funding, whining that the am talk radio dial is controlled exclusively by the NeoCons all supporting Bush.

AA name-calling and liberal babbling interspersed with "The Greatest Hits of Harry Bellafonte".
Sounds like a winner...especially since the Caribbean Music format had higher ratings than AA.

(Curses....now I will have "The Banana Boat Song" running through my head all day-ooooh)
