Maybe he ought to take his American paycheck in pesos now. But I doubt he would.

I've always liked Garciaparra, but this lowers my opinion of him.

Well, since this move is obviousy not about winning, and he is a US citizen, it has to be about money !!!!

This is a move to increase merchandise sales, no question about it.

Maybe a few commercial deals in Mexico...You never know.

This move could be a big money maker for Nomar.

If he stays and plays for the USA team, what`s he get, a medal?

Fine, don't come back and take your salary in pesos instead of dollars.

Wow, I am scared now. Nomar might just push Mexico over the top.

It might be good for a change, turning the table sort of since he is an American doing a job Mexican citizens wont do (sic), hope the ball player in Mexican who didn’t make the team learns to know how it feels to have his country sell out on him and start marching in the streets or something…. Well a good riddance from the USA anyhow.

Nomar is hardly the only guy doing this. Virtually every major leaguer who couldn't make the US team and has a name ending in a vowel is playing for Italy. This includes Mike Piazza (does this answer your later question about a gay team?).

Interestingly ehough, Greg Gagne will be playing for Canada, but Larry Walker will not.
