I like Princess Anne. I'm glad she left her loveless marriage and didn't care what people thought. I believe her comment to the press was 'naff off', not quite as shocking as the f-word would have been, thought a good stand-in. My recollection of Prince Philip crassness was when he was visiting some British students in, I think it was, Japan. He told them to be careful or they might come home with slitty eyes.
I have always thought it too bad that Princess Anne would not succed her mother instead of her less interesting brother [even though I am not necessarily a Charles/Camilla basher ... as I favor real happiness in marriage ... especially after Charles having been forced into a totally unsuitable ... and loveless ... marriage with someone as inappropriate as the late lamented Diana was]. It is much to Princess Anne's credit that she would not allow her children to be titled. She has allowed them to lead fairly normal lives. Her son, Peter, is apparently a pretty outstanding invividual; and, Zara, has sowed her wild oats and settled down with her footballer and trains constantly for a career in "eventing" where she is excelling.
