Yes but she is almost 80. She has been Queen for more than 50 years. Perhaps she has reached the stage like many do when you no longer care about the usual social niceties.

Perhaps you do not understand the nature of Queen Elizabeth II. She will never, ever reach the state "like many [of us]" when [she] no longer care[s] about the usual social niceties. She is one of the most extraordinarily strong willed, and most rigorously self-disciplined, individuals I have ever observed.

She has never put herself or her own desires ahead of her duty and faithful service to her country. She will always care. Just last April she refused to attend the marriage of her son, whom she loves very much, because she believed it to be her duty as Head of the Church of England not to attend.

H.M. is not like the rest of us .... She is the Queen and truly believes that God ordained that she be Queen. Her entire life has been preparation for and then performance of those duties. She would sooner jump out of the Tower of London to her death than to dishonor the monarchy in any way.

Her staff always prepares the Queen so that she can make a small personal remark to the people to whom she is presenting honors.

My money is on H.M. having said something entirely appropriate and proper ... and whoever the rock star is [never heard of him, frankly] having insufficient breeding, education and/or vocabulary to have been able to comprehend the words spoken by the Queen ... thus having "heard" the sort of crude remark he is accustomed to hearing/speaking in his own milieu.

Whether or not one is a Royalist or Republican, one can be certain of one thing:       H.M. never puts a foot wrong.       Never.

I love H.M. They sure as hell don't make 'em like that any more.

Agree completely. If said at all, it sounds much more like a comment that Prince Philip might make. He who has never stood on ceremony.

You are suggesting that the Queen is somehow immune from the ravages of aging. Maybe she is. Her mother was graceful until she passed away at the age of 101 so using that as a template I would agree with you. However I do not think everything is a matter of strong wills when it comes to aging. I doubt even us mere mortals if say we become incontinent give up that control due to lack of willpower.
