We can pass the gas to one another.

Drink lots of fruit juices and stay warm at all times.

Don't forget the Kleenex too.

Well, here is how we handle bad colds in our home...homemade chicken soup made from scratch...lots of chicken, chicken broth, carrots, celery, noodles, barley, rice, and seasonings...topped with homemade dumplings...

Made from scratch, simmered all day, its wonderful tasting, and actually does seem to 'cure' a cold...long been known as 'Jewish Penicillin'....tho I am not Jewish, and penicillin does not cure a cold, but still you get the point...

And then just before bedtime, 1 or 2 hot toddies, made up of strong tea, a shot of whiskey, honey, and lemon...

Homemade chicken soup, followed by a few potent hot toddies, usually cures what ails...

>Haven't had a cold in a long time. Can't even remember the last time.

I think you said it has been 4 years since you've been using Zicam.

Hey, Puking Dog, all these trips outdoors won't ameliorate your cold and instead will make it worse. Stay home warm and under cover and send someone to the stores. Have you got a dog?

>We gargle with warm salt water for sore throats and do the salt water snort for sinus, just dip a finger and snort it.

I can attest for sore throat there is nothing better than honey. Take about half a teaspoon at the time and do not swallow for about a minute or two. Repeat procedure 2 or more times. Repeat once in the morning, afternoon and evening. Sore throat should disappear in 24 hours or less. Stay away from medication - they ain't work.

>I've been running Pittsburgh/Denver simulations on Madden all day, since I don't feel like moving around much. Yeah, I have an X-Box in my bedroom, so what? Its not like I'm obsessed or anything...

You can't have your Kate and Edith too. If you want to go out on errands and play games, you can forget about your cold. Stay in bed and drink lots of fruit juices. Use honey for your sore throat. Honey - the best natural remedy for anything imaginable, including six.

Get a prescription for cough syrup with codeine. Worked for me.

*Update*

Sambucol = No help. I had high hopes for this stuff.

Zicam = Some help, didn't try it until around noon. Symptoms backed off a little bit, I was able to sleep a couple hours.

Scotch Whiskey = I'm still sick, but I don't care anymore!

I'm going to the doctor on Monday. Would go tomorrow, but its the playoffs, dammit.

It's only been about 24 hours. Have you been sleeping most of the day?

Let's see how you feel in the morning. Do you think you have the flu? A child in my children's school became very ill from it last week and I heard he was hospitalized. Are you pukin, Pukin?

I couldn't resist asking that way. :)

Feel better :)

Here's hoping one of those medications takes hold and surprises you by morning. I'll be cheering for the Steelers if that makes you feel any better :)

It helps. Its lonely being a Steeler fan these days. If the Steelers win, I am sure to find enough energy to come back on-line and gloat about it.

Hey - found this old thread - searching for some remedies for a sore throat/cough/laryngitis type of thing I have now. Wondering whatever helped you? Did you go on antibiotics? In the past, that has been the only thing that has helped me....but interested to know if you have used any of these other remedies since 2006 and what did they do for you?

Thanks.
