Five-year-old twin girls were found dead Friday afternoon at a home in southeast Mecklenburg County, and police say they are questioning a suspect in connection with the case. The children's mother and older siblings are in seclusion while police continue their investigation. WCNC-TV, the Observer's news partner, reports a man called 911 early Friday afternoon and said he had stabbed his two children. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police spokesman Keith Bridges would not confirm if the children's father was the suspect being held. He also would not comment on the cause of death for the young girls.
The deaths took place at a home in the 11200 block of Creek Pointe Drive, off Tilly Morris Road near Interstate 485. Police say they received a call shortly before 1 p.m. from a suspect who said twin children had been killed. When they arrived at the home, Bridges said, they found the suspect outside the house. Bridges said the suspect was taken into custody without a struggle. |

Local news! (Really local, for some ...)
How awful this is, TC.
Yes, it is. My little girls are going to a dance with their father tomorrow.
'cause if its with that dad in the story, I don't think soo...
I am truly so sorry to hear of this sad news happening in Mecklenberg, TC.
Oh, sorry! That was bad phrasing, wasn't it? Yes, my girls' father, my husband, is taking them to a dance. (Unless I have the baby tomorrow, in which case the girls will never forgive me.)
This case is not too far from us, although we're over the county line in Union. Just awful.
Everybody knows him. The community is reeling. No one can believe him capable of this.
Sad. Unusual for such violence to occur at such a beautiful home. But not unheard of.
Prayers for the repose of the souls of these innocent little girls.
Not only have they lost the little girls, but they've lost their breadwinner, and there will be no life insurance to pay the bills.
We'll be praying for the family. (Well, I will -- I don't tell the children about this sort of thing, unless it's close enough to home that they can't avoid being aware.)
Yoicks - hadn't thought of that. Please FReepmail me if there's a fund for the family.
You're that close? (due date)
Yes, the doctor said probably not this weekend, but could be any time after that.
The girls will never forgive you -- lol.
Helping my son with some schoolwork; and he lured me into watching a Wes Craven film: Red Eye. My son has this great gift for timing. The film is about terror on a flight by someone who at first appears reasonable, intelligent, affable, etc. And is a major subcreature doing terrible deeds. We do not watch West Craven films. This, however, was outside his reknown genre. It was very well done. I kept flashing on the family in Mecklenburg. And how he had to have just snapped. Too much. He had to have been living his life "out of balance" for a long time, IMHO, for such a snap to have ocrrued. That is, if indeed it is the father who murdered the twins.
... and the horror. The absolute horror of someone you (rhetorically) love and trust doing such a thing. Gut-wrenching.
I may have the baby early this morning after all, in which case Der Prinz would be home in plenty of time to take the girls to the dance :-). Or I might just be having a case of nerves!
The "just snapped" idea is a very disturbing part of this situation. It seems like if the man was so ... stressed? drugged? mentally ill? ... that *somebody* must have known. Maybe it will come out in the next few days that he was seeing a psychiatrist.
Simply heartbreaking beyond words.
that *somebody* must have known.
I'm not so sure about that -- somebody must have known -- unless he had had some type of secret life -- then, yes, somebody had to have known something -- which all those around him didn't know.
