"The most depraved woman always wins."
Sorry, can't use the Globe Awards to justify this one:
Winner:
sold marijuana.
Among the Losers:
1 committed adultery and became preggo by her teenage lover
1 refused to interfere in suicide she could have stopped= manslaughter?
About the whole concept, that many people seem to miss.
The awards are given for ACTING.
It is probably not easy to realistically portray a character not yourself. Case in point:
Felicity Huffman as a transsexual man.
If you pull it off, you are considered a good actor.
Although the subject may be disgusting to you, the simple solution is to not watch the movie. Patronize Narnia and other Christian-themed movies. This creates a demand for movies that satisfy your moral needs. If the goal is to prevent "objectionable" movies from getting made, the best solution is to eliminate demand for them.
Do you want Big Brother to step in and regulate content?
Better think twice about that one.
Why do shows like Seventh Heaven, Touched by an Angel, Joan of Arcadia get cancelled? Conspiracy? Try the allmighty dollar.
Many posting here are pretty riled up by "sodomizing, disgusting butt munchers". If the movies were just about sodomizing and butt munching, they probably wouldn't be winning awards. Some people are going to these movies despite the sodomizing and butt munching. Maybe its the acting? Maybe it's because there is so much HATRED bandied about in forums like these that people think that if the topic can generate hatred, it must be important.
Jesus teaches to hate the sin but love the sinner. People posting on this web site, calling themselves Christians, clearly hate the sinners. To me, this seems hypocritical.
Are Christians supposed to remain silent in respect to homosexual behavior if they object to it?
Somehow I doubt you will be here long.
There has been no hatred on this thread, and this discussion is not about gays but the disconnect between Hollywood and its audience, in a year where that disconnect is being felt at the box office.
Gay lifestyle is not accepted as normal or healthy in flyover country, nor do they accept it being portrayed as normal, but this is what Hollywood is in love with. When they are not shoving some far left liberal message down their audiences throat who are mostly not liberal, then we get an anti-American or anti-Christian message, and it is being felt in the box office this year. Its the disconnect pure and simple.
Hmmm...it's my experience that for every sin, there are hundreds if not thousands or more apologists for the sin.
I don't read "hate" on this "forum" -- I read disgust at the sin and for those who fascilitate sin by way of apologizing for those who engage in it, if not continue to proliferate and encourage the sin itself.
Sorry, but your attempts to chastise "Christians" for "hate" falls so short as to be sin itself.
Old Testament quotes are typically introduced with the phrases "It is written," or "That which was spoken by the prophet," or "Moses said." The formulation used in the Sermon on the Mount indicates that Jesus was not directly addressing what was written, but rather, what was said about what was written. "You have heard that it was said."
Jesus was NOT criticizing God's law, but the misinterpretation of the law. This becomes obvious when it is realized that at one point, He corrects a command that does not even appear in the law:
* "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love you neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies..." Mat. 5:43-44
"Hate your enemy," does not appear in the Mosaic law. Jesus is not adjusting the law! He is correcting the misapplication of the law.
"You have made the Word of God of no effect by the traditions of men." Throughout this sermon Jesus is rebuking men for misinterpreting the law. And what do men do, they completely misinterpret this sermon.

"Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets... Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great..." Mat. 5:17-19
