I just thought I'd let my fellow freepers know that their favorite movie, Brokeback Mountain, just won Best Picture at the Golden Globes. My gf tells me when they accepted the award, they were "stunned!"
What good can possibly come from a movie depicting two homos in cowboy uniform?
British actors are generally quite good. They are craftsmen and don't depend on natural charm alone.
And then there's that accent. They can say almost anything and sound classy.
Fer instance:
Drunken American Actor on a Three Day Binge: "Awww, I just crapped my pants!"
Drunken British Actor on a Three Day Binge: I say, I just shat myself."
Post don't have posh accents. And they can do American accents better than American actors can do British. Come to think that is not fair. People in English villages fity miles apart don't sound the same. We have only broad regional differences.
Well, I do. I don't want to go see a movie that's not any good.
What matters is that it pushed the already humongous envelope of public gay offensiveness.
I didn't find the movie offensive.
'Back in the day' using the Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) for factual film records was SAFE.
In recent years, that database has lowered it's standards on fact checking and movie/actor credit listings. Now, IMDB scrinking and tiny researching staff have to rely too much on questionable biased press releases from publicity persons, and opinionated blog sites. Facts are shakey and should be triple checked.
Also, he played the wierd gay production assistant in 'Boogie Nights'.
"Give it up cal....your point not taken move on to the Dummies website. You are out numbered. THE WEAKEST LINK GOOD BYE"
Dear Texas, Thanks for your friendly reply, but you're wrong about "Brokeback Mountain". In its 6th week of limited release, the film garnered another $12 million at the box office bringing the total to more than $44 million. It's now one of the most successful independent films in history, and it's the 10th biggest box office Western of all-time. "Brokeback Mountain" was #5 at this weekend's box office -- not bad for a film that's been out six weeks and is still playing in only 1,100+ theaters (compared to 3,000+ for big Hollywood films). The film has already earned more than 3x its cost of $14 million.
Take the gay movie and do not shove it down me. I am tired of Bi this and Bi that. Gay used to mean happy-not so these days.
