NEW YORK -- The NFL said the referee made a mistake: Troy Polamalu caught the ball.
The league acknowledged Monday that referee Pete Morelli erred when he overturned on replay Polamalu's interception of a Peyton Manning pass Sunday in the playoff game between Pittsburgh and Indianapolis.
Mike Pereira, the league's vice president of officiating, said in a statement that Morelli should have upheld the call, made with 5:26 left in Pittsburgh's win over the Colts.

The worst officiating in the all the playoff games ever...very obvious the NFL did not want New England in there either.
Pats/Steelers would have been the best matchup. Not to mention that it would have given me both teams from my pre-season pick for the AFC championship.

When calls this egregious are made on review, one has to wonder if the referee is betting on the game. This was not a gray area and it wasn't a call made during play. Morelli should be suspended without pay.Wow. And that coming from a "peyton".

What's to purpose to bring out an internal problem. If everybody is talking about a controversial call, the league needs to come out and explain whether the call was right or wrong, so as to clarify it for rulings in future ball games.
It was an idiotic call and the league had no choice but to acknowledge it.

Sure looked like it to me! That interference call was just as bad as the Polamalu travesty! The call, if there was one, should have been against the offensive guy for contnual pushing off!

Right. As much pain the Pats have given our Steelers the past years, that is the way it should have been.

Had the Steelers lost, I suspect the NFL would have said nothing.

Accordingly, "the bus" doesn't have to feel bad about making one fumble in 200 plus carries and Vanderjagt doesn't have to blame himself for what wasn't an easy field goal anyway. Thanks for saying that. A very wise remark.

That iterference call that set up Denver's first td was bogus. The league is losing credibility.Horrible.
