I've got Das Boot for tonight.

Ooh, good movie! I actually first saw it in a theater during its original release. I was in college at the time, and because of a special deal with the German Club they had a couple of showings in the original German with subtitles.

Useless bit of trivia: Jurgen Prochnow's character in the German version is referred to as "Herr Kaleun" (pronounced ka-loin). Our German instructor (and she was actually a native of Germany who had emmigrated to the U.S.) didn't know what this word meant. It wasn't his name, and it wasn't any rank that she was familiar with. She finally found the answer in a dictionary of obscure German technical terms: "Kaleun" is actually a contraction of Kapitan-Leutnant. It seems that the German Navy often used ranks less than full Captain (Kapitan) to command subs and smaller ships. So his actual rank was Leutnant, but because he was in command he was an honorary "Kapitan". The Germans being the sticklers they are, couldn't just call him "Kapitan" though, and "Kapitan-Leutnant" was just to long to say every time, so it got contracted into "Kaleun".

'Course, if you don't watch it in German with subtitles, that whole little story I just recited is totally pointless.
