What about a phone line? Computer hook-up?
For the Love of God...does she have a BED??????
~being overly dramatic due to extreme boredom~
Cable TV
Cable broadband
Vonage
Beeni using that kind setup for 16 months in two homes...bills come to less than 1/3 the separate cable, phone and dialup (ptui!) at the previous location.
I can get you a good deal on Vonage, if interested. (Benefits me too.)
Not sure when she'll hook up phone and cable there... Right now she has her cell, and could switch that to a local number... We were wondering if she got a wireless router and we put it in our window, could she use our internet from next door? Could we stay on our wired connection or would we have to get wireless cards too? Anyone?
She's gonna take our guest bed for now. It's a twin, and the room is big enough over there for a double or a queen, but she can get that later.
Cable's really the only internet or tv reception here. But it's blazin' fast. I think she's reluctant to start up too many bills till she gets a job.
I like twin beds! I used to LOVE mine! I'd tuck it in as tight as I could, crawl in through the top and sleep with my feet flat it would be so tight! Heh!
Do we really need another picture of me stuffing my face? :)
Strangely, I'm not hungry this evening. Think I'll just make some tea.
I've got a wireless router. It connects to my desktop with a regular ethernet card and cable. The wireless goes to my laptop in the den. You could check the range on the router. On the Oregon trip last summer I was picking up the wireless signal from an RV park across the street.
Evening;
Yes indeed, it is something that we 'have put off for far too long'. hmm. recall reading or hearing that somewhere. :-)
hmmm, neither are we, well, maybe a brownie and glass of milk while we're watching 24. Whoohoo. 24-24-24
She might get wireless reception from over there. You should be able to use your wired connections, most wireless router have some wired ports too. You guys don't have laptops, do you? Wireless in laptops is a wonderful thing.
Well, hang on 2J, the warm will be there soon. It was 42 degrees today and it felt absolutely balmy. Gypsygirl got an extra long walk since they have been a bit shorter of late. Single digits=short walks.
I was wondering about that...sharing wireless. She bought some kind of thing when she moved to Jens, didn't she??? Wireless jobber?
Yes. Yes we do.
;-D
I can hear my neighbor out in his driveway breaking apart the ice. It really is just like an ice skating rink out there!
I bought the wireless router before she got out here, she bought a wireless card though so all she'd need is the router and a signal.
Ahhh....I see.
So if I buy a card, I can access WiFi with my iBook? Like at Panera Bread? (Coffee shop that advertises free wifi.)
Cards are a bit pricy - on the line of $50 dollars. If you do buy one, get a B/G card - that's pretty much all they sell. And make sure it's compatible with your iBook. Go to best buy and tell the geek what computer you have. I don't know Macs at all so I can't tell you if your iBook will cooperate.
But yes, once you have a card, you can get wireless internet anywhere that offers it. Some places don't offer it free. I think Borders uses T-Mobile and you have to pay, but Barnes and Nobles usually just has free internet... lots of coffee shops have free internet... heck, there's a McDonalds here that has free wireless.
With or without novocaine? I don't think that was on the agenda for the next visit...
Huh.
