The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Brrr!! Cold cold cold here! We're socked in a layer of solid ice with snow on top, the front door is frozen shut. 11 degrees. High winds.

I just fed the girls a pan of warm milk and bits of left over pancake. Fetched in a solid frozen egg.

It's cold here too. You know, it wouldn't be so bad if it hadn't been 80 degrees on Thursday.

RE: The monitor you got for Hair...

My monitor is now starting to crap out too (it's been phasing in and out of a blurriness similar to what Hair's old one looked like), so I'm doing some shopping. Would you recommend Viewsonics in general? I'm leaning toward the same model as hers, so that our desk is nicely coordinated.

I really like ViewSonic... we buy a lot of them at the office and they've been trouble-free. Mine here at home has been great. I don't have much other data to back it up but my impression is that they're pretty much the 800lb gorilla in the display market.

FYI: Dad and Dona just left for your place, with the carpetscrubberizer thingy.

Said that you should call him on his cell if your pipes are frozen.

Is that a good thing? Do we want an 800 pound gorilla? ;~D

In the market, sure. They're smaller when they're by themselves though. Which is good.

Okeydoke, thanks... my monitor is looking fine again for the time being, so it's not a buy-it-today thing anyway. But I found a site (newegg.com) with a good price on it.

Then we'll have 3 old monitors to try and get rid of. :-\

It's butt-numbin' cold here! We got hit with drizzle, then heavy sleet, so our world is covered in ice, with an inch of snow on top. Roads are very slick.

My garden is covered with floating row cover, I hope it works!
