The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Didn't take any pics today - we're done cleaning and ready for Dad with the carpet cleaner tomorrow.

We're going out now, for a bit... gonna go out for some pizza.

We've had WIND today... much higher gusts (40) than the supposed windstorm when you were here... The yard is littered with little branches. No BIG limbs down though.

I think that Hair did have pictures of the looooong hall that she posted before you got there. It'll be neat to see the difference. :-)

Better hurry and get that pizza before another big WIND comes! Be careful - some of the branches look like they'd hurt a wee bit if they landed on ya!

And freezing rain here.

Funny, since we're some 1500 miles south of you ...

We'll be at zero tonight, so I guess we're splitting the difference

Evenin' folkses... :-)

Well... traffic was slow, but I'm at da beach. Have been playing around with my new digital cable and DVR... :-)

It's a better way to do things, I think.

I'm hearing about power outages all over... east of here I think... closer to the mountains. Dona said that the cable was out here almost all day. Just came on before I got here.

Hey there!

Off to the store to use the CoinStar machine. Becky gave up a little less than halfway through the pile of change.

hehehehe....I had her sorting the pennies. ;-)

Yup. You'd better believe it.

But the lesson I set out to teach was learned. Tossing loose change into a jug for a couple of years does pay off eventually. :-)

That's her and Alyson's clothes shopping money once we get to Washington.

Piggy-banks work! :-)

It's amazing how just a little spare change will add up.

I'm really liking it.

It's doing some wierd stuff though. Sorta possessed. Seems to spontaneously reboot now and then for no reason.

I'm not sure if the gremlin is here on the box or upstream in their system. Apparently there's been outages all over today.

If there are problems in the area, I'd wait until tomorrow to see if it behaves better. :-/

It is brrr-cold here! Yesterday it was a balmy 80 degrees. Then later (must have been around 5:15 since that is when taekwondo cl;ass is over), I smelled smoke everywhere, and it was like driving through massive FOG everywhere. The whole city was blanketed in it. Someone said there had been a grass fire in Ardmore! Ardmore! Good grief. Ardmore is what? over 100 miles north of me?

Apparently what happened was that the cold front literally transported all the smoke ahead of it. As soon as the smoke cleared up, it got cold... really cold. freezing cold. The high today was 39 degrees.
