The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It's how it is now... not how it could be :~D

Yeah...though I admit, the pictures are kinda disheartening. Gonna take me a little while to adjust to "But if I did this...things would work better/look nicer" mode. ;-)

Is that a bowling ball in the middle of the living room? LOL!

Is that flowery thing in the one bedroom covering up anything?

At least the small bathroom is intact, if pretty nasty.

I wonder what the landlord will say about the rent offer after seeing more of the inside.

It's all your fault, Ruthy! Poor little crab didn't have anything to live for once you weren't there. < /guilt trip>

*sticks tongue out at you*

He wasn't pining for me, he was pining for the fjords. :-D

Are you insinuating my hermit crab was queer?

Maybe the other guys killed him cuz he got too touchy-feely.

It's pretty depressing inside right now, particularly the main bathroom. The one that says "big BR" that's right off the living room is actually the one I'd choose... the floor's dirty but the shampooer will clean it. The bathroom that's in there is workable.

The flowery thing isn't covering anything bad.

Do you bowl? ;~D

*shrugs*

Wish I knew what he died from, so I wouldn't worry about the others.

Heh...the bowling ball just struck me as incongruous. Trash, I understand. Busted fixtures, I understand. But a bowling ball? Why leave that behind, right in the middle of a room?

I'm easily amused, obviously. ;-)

I guess the stove and the floor would be the biggest deal breakers, huh? Can't get along without a stovetop for long at all. The oven looks pretty ancient, too, but if it still works...well, that's OK.

Spraypaint the bowling ball and use it as a garden ornament...

I think the bathroom is the biggest problem. The stovetop is easy enough to replace, and not all that expensive, probably... the fixtures wouldn't be hard either, my dad knows how to wire new fixtures if the landlord doesn't get it done... The place is a mess, but it could be cleaned.

But the bathroom is going to take carpentry.

I'll let you know when I talk to him, after he's been inside.

*snicker*

Ya know, the thought had occurred to me.

There are tires, too. And a busted sink.

Could do a whole redneck garden.

I'm actually serious. I saw it in a gardening magazine.

No worries, hon.

One good thing about these pets is that you can't really get ~too~ emotionally attached to them.

Well, except for Bubba. He's my favorite.

I chucked my dead dude in the trash, unfortunately.

He was already reeking and I don't want something to dig him up and find bits all over the place. :-/

Oh, I know. I've seen it before! Actually doesn't look bad. Gives a garden a focal point...which makes it look more organized and stuff.

This one is red...so it wouldn't even need spray painting. ;-)

I'm sorry you've really ended up in the middle so much...but he hasn't ever gotten back to me on anything. :-\
