The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Depending on which part of town you look at, we had anywhere from .6" to 1.6" of rain for the month of January. The rain today was more than the weather weenies expected, but we're still under burn bans here too!

We got a half an inch a few days ago...last Saturday. We were praising God in church Sunday!

My understanding is that it's not gonna change...we're in a "La Nina" weather pattern and will be all summer. Gonna be a hot one.

Unggghhh... I hate that kind of weather. I'd be much happier up north, weather-wise.

So I shouldn't bother with the rain gardens?

I don't know! What's a rain garden, Precious?

You know what I've always wanted?? I want to have a house with a metal roof and have my downspouts connected to a cistern of some sort that that collects the rain for me to use to irrigate my garden.

I also want a catfish pond...did you know?

Hehehe...

It's a garden that's supposed to absorb the rain before it gets to the storm drains. The good mayor of KC wants 10,000 of them.

Actually, at a glance, this sounds kinda neat! Right up Steve's ally, so to speak, eh? That's the whole premise of SDT (Steve's D*** Thesis).

Heh...can't win.

Have I mentioned I really want a garden?

Kinda thinkin' I might get one of Burpee's seed kits this year...the ones that have a plan drawn out and all. Some are less than ten bucks for everything.

Of course, a lot will depend on how much other stuff needs done, and how busy I am.
