It's one thing to make a song your own, and quite another to make it totally unrecognizable. In a way, it's kind of like ripping off the lyrics from someone else's song and putting your own melody to it. Not good.

That's IT exactly! Had I been scanning radio stations I would never have recognized it and would not have listened to it for long either.

Speaking of such. I have a question for you, since you listen to a lot of music. Have you ever heard Bob Rivers and Twisted Radio? I ask because on one of their tapes (happens to be a Christmas one) they sing 'Oh Little Town of Bethlehem' to the music of 'House of the Rising Sun'. I just wondered if you had ever heard that?

No, I never have heard of them. Never heard their version of 'Oh Little Town of Bethlehem' / 'House of the Rising Sun'. That would be extremely odd, and in my opinion, a rip off of both works. On the other hand, if Twisted Radio is intended to be a parody thing, then I can understand the point of mixing both songs.
