It was unfortunate that by coincidence Elliott sang the song that could be called "Deborah La Fave's Theme Song"--and on the very day that she was let off. The TV was almost back-to-back coverage of the "teacher minx".
But I am probably the only AI follower to make that connection--(I hope.)
The vocals were perfect, and Elliott showed that he was very amenable to Manilow's suggestions and tutelage, which means Elliott does not have one of those Texas-size egos that are so repugnant in show biz folk.
Most guys would be lying if they said that they liked Barry Manilow. Plus, Richmond is a fairly mixed city so yes, Elliott will lean toward Soul and R&B and that is so not Barry Manilow. I will give him credit for being honest about not being a fan but telling how much he learned from him.
Must remain open to the lessons, Grasshopper!!!
